Top 7 tips for Muslim Parents

Humans devised rules and regulations in order to make the world a better place. Without these standards and sufficient leadership, the sense of morality would be lost, and society will descend into anarchy. Parenting styles can have a significant impact on maintaining a peaceful and orderly community. Because the youngsters they are raising now will be tomorrow's leaders. As a result, their parenting is extremely important. If they begin to break the norms, their lives will become a jumble, and this is how individuals begin to doubt their religion. The physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of a child is influenced by the environment in which he or she grows up. Muslims need to understand the significance of the parenting role because Allah (SWT) says; O you who believe, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe. [Qur’an 66:6]

The following are the top seven recommendations for Muslim parents:

Increase the amount of time you spend with your children:

Allah will inquire as to how both parents raised their children. It will be terrible for this life and the afterlife if parents do not pay enough attention to and guide their children, and as a result, the children grow up not practising Islam. As a result, parents should prioritise parenting over all else. If you have any extra jobs, quit them and devote more time to your children. It is impossible to provide adequate counsel to children if you are not present with them. Spending more time with family and children is preferable to having more money and luxury items.

Take an interest in their work:

After you make more time for your children, you will have more possibilities to be interested in what they do. If your child enjoys gardening, go ahead and assist him. Go ahead and look at his websites if he creates them. If they enjoy travelling, accompany them. Is your son a football player? Pay attention to his games. Taking an interest in what your children do will help you connect with them appropriately. If they're doing something wrong, you'll be able to tell right away. Directly confront them about it and tell them they can't do that. Make them your partners and provide them family tasks. This will help you and your children form a strong bond. Inviting them to Islamic activities is a good idea.

Make sure you have the correct role models:

These days, children's idols are artists, actors, and other celebrities. As a result, they are gradually abandoning Salah and Islam. They are more likely to have tattoos and engage in premarital affairs. To avoid temptation, get them married as soon as possible. To be a role model for your children, you must become religious. Make them read the biographies of our Prophet (SAW) and his companions as well. Stop convincing kids that singers and actors are their heroes. Assist and guide them in making our Prophet (SAW) their idol, so they can select the right path for themselves.

Make a parenting strategy:

It's more crucial than you realise to have a parenting plan. Read Muslim-authored books to aid in the development of a good parenting strategy. If you make plans that are known to everyone in the family, your family members will be looking forward to the same things that you are looking forward to. One of your most valuable assets is anticipation. Nothing can be accomplished in life without planning, and the same can be said about parenting. Begin planning, even if only for three months at a time. Plan a weekly family meeting to stay up to date on what's going on in the household. Dinners with your children should be planned frequently. These preparations will assist you in raising your children properly. Without a doubt, something that isn't planned is doomed to fail.

Don't simply teach them; nurture them:

We are concerned about our children's education and want to enrol them in the greatest educational institution possible. We seem to overlook the nurturing aspect. Education provides them with the rules, regulations, advice, and knowledge they require. However, individuals can only put such information and instruction into practice in their daily lives if they are nurtured. It's pointless to educate them without also nurturing them. From the Quran, teach your children how to be an ideal Muslim. Teach them the information and encourage them to apply it in their daily lives.

What other parents have done to get it right:

If you observe other parents doing well, don't assume they're better parents than you. Every family experiences highs and lows, good and bad moments. If you are currently unable to effectively guide your children, this does not mean you will never be able to do so. Although each child is unique, you can sometimes emulate the ways of parents who have had success with their children. The Quran and Sunnah are the primary sources of knowledge, but there are also a plethora of parenting books and courses available. Even when you're angry, have patience and give your child unconditional love. Make sure your children have a good structure and routine.

Make Dua and read Qur’an:

Allah is the one who provides guidance. If you fulfil your role as a parent properly, your children will, Insha Allah, be on the right track. If you don't disregard this responsibility, it will be easier to lead them in the proper direction. Every time you conclude your prayer, make dua for them. Make a dua for them in front of them to show them how much you care and love them. At least 10 minutes a day, read the Quran with the translation. The optimum times to recite the Quran are before sleeping and after Fajr. You will immediately see the result. This will help you connect with Allah, and you will quickly become a role model for your family. Choose a section of the basement or living room to serve as the home Masjid and entrust it to the kids. This is something you can do with ease. Make your home into a library by stocking it with Islamic books. Your children will be more engaged in an Islamic lifestyle if you have a Masjid and an Islamic library. Being a parent is a difficult job. It might be difficult to steer children in the correct direction at times. At some point in their lives, every parent has struggled to lead their children down the proper path. These suggestions will undoubtedly be of tremendous assistance to all parents.
